SIG P226 Pistol and Its Variants

SIG P226 is a semi-automatic pistol manufactured by the Swiss company SIG Sauer. This pistol was originally developed in the 1980s for the competition to find a new service weapon for the United States military. Although it didn't win the competition, it became popular among police and military forces worldwide due to its reliability, accuracy, and ergonomic design. The P226 is available in several calibers, most commonly 9 mm Luger, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG.
The SIG P228, also known as the M11, ultimately made it into the U.S. military's arsenal, which is a more compact version of the P226. The main difference is the shorter barrel and frame, which facilitates concealed carry.
The U.S. Navy requested a modified version of the original SIG P226, designated the SIG P226 MK25. The last modification worth mentioning is the SIG P320 M17, which was developed as a replacement for the P226 under the U.S. Army's Modular Handgun System (MHS) program.
