The real M40 series was developed from the Remington Model 700 rifle, and its various versions were associated for decades primarily with United States Marine Corps (USMC) snipers. The airsoft SA-S02 adopts the characteristic concept of a long bolt-action rifle and combines it with an internal design suitable for further upgrades. The rifle uses a simple manual bolt-action mechanism. Before each shot, the spring must therefore be compressed and another BB loaded by operating the charging handle. The system requires neither a battery nor gas and can be used throughout the year without being dependent on temperature or gas pressure. The stock is made from reinforced Ncore polymer and features an adjustable cheek rest and rubber butt pad. Important structural components, including the receiver, barrel, hop-up unit, trigger mechanism and charging handle, are made of metal. The exterior is complemented by a matt Nano Coating finish for increased scratch resistance and a laser-engraved Specna Arms logo. The top of the rifle features a RIS rail for installing a rifle scope, while another RIS interface allows accessories such as a bipod to be mounted. The HIGH VELOCITY SET version is an upgraded rifle with upgrade parts. The rifle is fitted with a CNC aluminium spring guide, CNC lightweight aluminium piston, stronger spring and a reinforced trigger mechanism with steel internal parts. The complete set also includes a rifle scope with a 40 mm objective lens and variable 3–9× magnification, as well as a folding Harris-type bipod with RIS mounting, so you can head straight into action. One of the advantages of the SA-S02 is its quickly accessible hop-up adjustment. Pressure is adjusted using a lever directly on the rifle body, as on Tokyo Marui VSR-10 rifles, so adjustment requires no tools or disassembly. Correct hop-up adjustment allows the BB spin to be matched to its weight and the specific rifle setup. The long cylinder generates a greater volume of air than an AEG gearbox, so even at a muzzle velocity of 150 m/s we recommend using heavier 0.40 g BBs and above. Another important feature is partial compatibility with internal parts of the VSR-10 standard. Compatible upgrade parts for the trigger mechanism, piston and piston catch can therefore be used, although the High Velocity version already includes these upgraded parts, so there is no reason to replace them. However, it is not fully VSR-10 compatible; the hop-up unit, cylinder head and magazines are non-standard. The inner barrel and hop-up bucking use a VSR / GBB design.
