What exactly does the PK-172 mechanism do?

The PK-172 is part of the AK side-folding stock mechanism. A single component combines the button used to release the stock and the folding mechanism catch. If the original part is damaged, worn or missing, the PK-172 serves as its replacement.

What is the difference between the LCT PK-172 and PK-221?

These parts are designed for two different AK folding stock systems. The PK-172 is intended for stocks that fold to the side, such as those on the AKS-74, AKS-74M or AKS-74U. The PK-221 belongs to the AKMS / LCKMS mechanism, where the metal stock folds beneath the receiver. The parts are not interchangeable.

Is the PK-172 only for classic AKS-74 models?
