Premium Hop-Up Buckings by Maple Leaf

The hop-up bucking is one of the most critical components, along with a precision inner barrel, chamber pressure system, and quality BBs, affecting the accuracy and range of your airsoft weapon. To shoot further and more accurately, there is no need to excessively increase muzzle velocity. It’s akin to adding gas to a car without steering. Finding the right setup is an art, and each player has their own ideal combination.
Hop-up buckings come in various designs, each intended for a specific type of inner barrel (AEG/HPA, GBB/VSR, Hybrid), muzzle velocity (shore hardness), environmental conditions (standard or silicone buckings), and purpose (range or accuracy).
A longer and wider contact surface with the BB allows for greater range but may sacrifice precision compared to buckings with arrow/diamond-shaped nubs. These nubs initially engage the BB with their full width and then narrow, guiding the BB to a single point, enhancing accuracy and grouping but providing less backspin than wider nubs necessary for overcoming longer distances.
To assist you, we have provided a comparison of different bucking options below. However, finding the perfect one is a personal journey.

Hybrid Buckings by Maple Leaf

  • HYBRID
The first hybrid bucking allowing the use of GBB/VSR barrels in AEG hop-up chambers, featuring a wide diamond nub for maximum range. Designed for use with Ra-Tech and Maple Leaf GBB barrels in AEG chambers and some WE Open-Bolt guns. Also compatible with other GBB barrels without a bridge. Durable black design that is harder than HOT SHOT and COOL SHOT. Comes with an OMEGA Nub pressure roller.
  • HOT SHOT
Hybrid bucking that allows the use of GBB/VSR barrels in AEG hop-up chambers, making it compatible with setups like an ML Crazy Jet inner barrel and a MAXX M4A Pro AEG chamber. Not suitable for AEG barrels. The nub shape is similar to SUPER MACARON with centering fins, designed for accuracy. Available in a collared variant for AEG guns or a non-collared variant for GHK gas guns. Suitable for Silverback SRS sniper rifles (both standard and FAST versions).

  • COOL SHOT
Essentially the same product as HOT SHOT, including AEG/SRS and GHK variants without collars. The difference lies in the material, as COOL SHOT includes more silicone, similar to silicone versions of SUPER MACARON and MR HOP. This makes the bucking ideal for cold weather, as silicone buckings maintain the same performance without requiring "warming up" with initial shots.

Warnings

  • The recommended muzzle velocity is based on the BB weight used. For instance, if shooting 0.28 g BBs, the recommended muzzle velocity is measured with them.
  • Suitable BB weight and recommended muzzle velocity are indicative and should be individually tested to find the optimal combination for each setup.

Recommendations

  1. Place the bucking precisely into the hop-up window cutout and use the lower guide groove on the barrel to ensure even installation.
  2. Before inserting into the chamber, lightly lubricate the outer surface of the bucking with silicone oil (suitable for rubber materials) for easier installation. Never lubricate the inner part of the bucking.
  3. Do not force the barrel with the bucking into the chamber. Everything should slide in smoothly with slight resistance from the sealing lips.
  4. The collar of the bucking must not protrude into the magazine well, as this could cause feeding issues.
  5. Before installing into the weapon, ensure that the BB passes through the inner barrel.
  6. Check the alignment of the hop-up nub in the chamber to ensure proper function (accuracy), avoiding any misalignment that could cause BB curving.
  7. New buckings require a "break-in" period; it is recommended to shoot 200-400 BBs before achieving a consistent hop-up effect (depending on BB weight and muzzle velocity).
  8. Initial shots should be fired with only slight hop-up pressure. Following this process will provide much greater consistency than immediately setting the maximum desired hop-up pressure.
