This type of polymer is used on platforms like the CZ Scorpion EVO and MP7. The FLEX line is essentially a sibling to CORE—CORE uses a CNC metal handguard, while FLEX uses nylon. The biggest Gen2 leap is inside: the internals are fully upgraded like the flagship PRIME™ series.
AR9 Light Ops Gen2 (SA-FX01 FLEX™ BLDC™ HAL ETU™) sports a fully reworked, reinforced V2 gearbox dubbed ÆTHER that handles springs up to M140. Inside you’ll find CNC steel 16:1 gears on 8 mm bearings—an ideal combo for great ROF and durability. A reinforced 14-tooth polycarbonate piston ensures ideal AoE and prevents lockups without slowing the shot. Air is pushed into the chamber by a CNC nozzle mounted on a reinforced tappet plate.
The AR9 Flex Gen2 also includes the HAL ETU™ electronic unit with trigger sensing via magnetic (Hall) sensors and features like active brake, binary trigger, adjustable trigger sensitivity, pre-cocking, programmable fire modes, and a low-voltage alarm. For accuracy, there’s a 6.03 mm inner barrel paired with a Helium Flat-Hop bucking in the revised MAGNUS™ TDC chamber. ESA2 quick spring change lets you swap the spring in under a minute. The BLDC™ drive is powered by a precision brushless Dark Matter motor at 27,000 rpm, delivering higher efficiency and performance with noticeably higher ROF and trigger response, and up to 5× more shots per battery than brushed motors (5000+ shots on 11.1V 1000 mAh). It’s housed in an aluminum shell for maximum durability and can run up to M190 springs.
The rifle ships with a Specna Arms EASY LiPo Charger set—an 11.1V Li-Po 1000 mAh that fits the stock tube perfectly, plus a quality Li-Po charger.

Important first-use activation

To fire the rifle, you must activate the HAL ETU by following this exact procedure; otherwise the gun won’t respond to a connected battery:

1. Set the selector to Safe.
2. Connect the battery and wait 3 seconds until you hear a beep.
3. Press and hold the trigger for 5 seconds until you hear another beep.
4. The rifle is now ready to use.

FLEX™ AR9 receiver quality

The Specna Arms AR9 Light Ops Gen2 (SA-FX01 FLEX™ BLDC™ HAL ETU™) stands out with a matte, realistic-looking nylon receiver that’s glass-fiber reinforced—tough yet light. The outer barrel is metal, and even screws, the ejection cover, and pins are steel. This compact beast is sturdy and durable yet extremely light and maneuverable, made to dominate CQB arenas. Controls are intuitive thanks to the AR-15 layout: a crisp selector on the left, ambidextrous charging handle, and on the right a dummy ejection port for quick hop-up access. The magazine and its catch are cleverly designed with an AK/EVO-style release lever for reliability and ease of use compared to a tiny AR15 button; other controls remain M4-like.
Airsoft magazines only imitate Glock 9 mm mags, but the feel is authentic. The mag seats very firmly with no wobble. The M-LOK handguard allows mounting grips, AN/PEQ boxes, flashlights, etc. You also get a brand-new Light Ops stock with a rubberized cheek rest and QD sling sockets. Batteries fit in the stock tube only, so choose Buffer stick types. Overall, this rifle combines low weight and excellent internals at a very attractive price.

Warnings

• Some brands’ springs are heavily overrated (e.g., M130 performing like M140–M150) and may exceed the gearbox’s rated strength. Use the included Specna Arms springs. For other brands, choose around M120 to avoid damage.
• If installing a spring with progressive/irregular winding, ensure the tighter coil end sits on the spring guide facing out of the gearbox.
• Never store the gun with the battery connected.
• Never store the gun with pre-cocking engaged. Always release the piston forward before storage to protect the spring.
