MK18 assault rifle from the PRIME™ series with an official Colt licence and authentic receiver markings, as well as a Daniel Defense® licence with markings on the handguard, represents the best, most refined, most upgraded, most advanced and most reliable that Specna Arms has to offer. In short, Specna decided to take a perfectly fitted receiver with a Nano Coating finish boasting increased resistance to scratches and damage, and pack it with powerful BLDC™ upgrade parts. They started with the Dark Matter™ brushless motor housed in a new QD pistol grip for quick access to the motor. The rifle also features a completely redesigned ÆTHER gearbox, capable of handling AEG springs up to M140. Inside you will find the Bluetooth-enabled ASTER II V2 ETU with a CNC GATE x SA SOLAR™ trigger, CNC 16:1 gears, a CNC cylinder head and piston head with a CNC nozzle, 8mm ball bearings on the sector and bevel gears, and a bushing on the spur gear. Accuracy is provided by an inner barrel with a diameter of 6.02 mm. It is paired with a Helium Flat-Hop bucking inside the redesigned MAGNUS™ chamber with a TDC pressure system. The package includes 3 AEG springs with different power ratings, and thanks to the ESA2 quick spring change system, you can easily adjust the power to meet specific field limits. Redesigned ÆTHER™ gearbox with BLDC™ upgrade parts ÆTHER™ represents one of the most durable stock gearboxes on the market. The extensively reinforced shell is capable of operating even with the included Specna Arms M135 spring, and Specna Arms has patented the design (European Patent No. 015044865-0001). Inside the gearbox you will find CNC steel 16:1 gears, 8mm J-Cage bearings and a reinforced polycarbonate piston with 14 steel teeth and a CNC piston head featuring enlarged ports for efficient airflow into the double-sealed CNC cylinder head. This assembly operates inside a stainless steel cylinder with cooling fins that help dissipate heat during full-auto fire. Air is delivered into the hop-up chamber through a CNC nozzle.

Warnings

• Springs from some manufacturers are significantly overrated (for example, an M130 spring may deliver power corresponding to M140–M150), and their actual power may exceed the declared durability of the gearbox. We recommend using only the included Specna Arms springs. When using springs from other manufacturers, we recommend choosing springs rated around M120 to reduce the risk of damaging the rifle with a spring whose actual strength does not correspond to its marking.
• When replacing a spring with progressive (non-uniform) coils, make sure that the end with the more tightly wound coils is positioned on the spring guide, facing outwards from the gearbox.
• Never store the rifle with the battery connected.
• Never store the rifle with pre-cocking activated. Before storage, always release the piston to its forward position to prevent unnecessary long-term compression of the spring and stress on internal components.

Pairing the app

To pair the GCS app with the ASTER II unit, you need to enter its unique code located on the label attached to the wiring. Ideally, leave this label on the rifle or at least keep it in a safe place. Without this code, the unit cannot be paired with the app.

How do I pair the ASTER II control unit with my smartphone?

Download the GATE Control Station (GCS) app for Android or iOS and enable Bluetooth. During the first pairing, the app will request a unique PIN code, which can be found on the paper label attached to the wiring near the battery connector. Do not remove the label from the rifle, or make sure you save the PIN securely for future use.

What BB weight is ideal for this rifle?

Thanks to the 6.02 mm precision barrel and TDC hop-up chamber with Flat-Hop bucking, the rifle can effectively handle heavier BBs. For optimal accuracy, range and shot-to-shot consistency, we recommend high-quality 0.28–0.32 g BBs. The ideal weight may vary depending on the current power output and installed spring.

What should I do with the rifle before storing it after an airsoft game?

After the game, always disconnect the battery, as the electronic trigger unit may draw a small amount of current even in standby mode. If you use the Pre-Cocking function, release the piston to its forward position before storing the rifle. This prevents the spring from remaining compressed for extended periods and reduces unnecessary stress on the internal components.
