It enlarges the original gripping surface of the charging handle and provides a larger and more secure grip, making the gun easier to operate, particularly when wearing gloves. On AEGs, it also makes repeated operation of the charging handle more convenient when adjusting the hop-up mechanism. The extension simply slides onto the original charging handle and is secured with two screws, so there is no need to replace the entire original part. The construction combines CNC-machined 6061 aluminium and steel and, at only 29 g, adds minimal additional weight.
