AK, officially known as the Kalashnikov Assault Rifle, was developed in the Soviet Union by Mikhail Kalashnikov in the late 1940s. It became the standard assault rifle of the Soviet armed forces (AK-47) and, thanks to its durability, reliability, and ease of use, it is still in use worldwide. The AK-47 uses a 7.62×39mm cartridge, offering good stopping power and range. In the 1970s, the modernized AK-74 with a smaller 5.45×39mm cartridge was introduced.

The modernized variant SA AK-74 M-LOK features a polymer Crane-style M4/AR15 adjustable stock mounted on a metal buffer tube with an integrated QD sling swivel socket and a CNC aluminum M-LOK handguard with RIS rails, allowing the attachment of accessories such as a grip, AN/PEQ box, or a flashlight. On the gas tube, there is a long RIS rail for a red dot sight. On the side, you will find the typical AK-74 mounting rail, suitable for attaching a side (top) mount for a rifle scope or red dot sight.

Internal Parts and GATE ASTER SE V3 ETU

Inside you’ll find a precision brushless Dark Matter motor with 27,000 rpm. This motor ensures higher efficiency, better performance, and further increases rate of fire and trigger response. It provides up to 5x more shots on the same battery compared to traditional motors (5000+ shots with an 11.1V 1000mAh pack). It’s housed in a durable aluminum casing, capable of handling springs up to M190.
The reinforced V3 gearbox handles AEG springs up to M140. Inside, you’ll find CNC steel 16:1 gears – the ideal ratio for high RoF and durability, especially with a Specna Arms M135 spring. 8mm J-Cage bearings are used: ball bearings on the motor and piston gear, with a bushing on the sector gear for added strength. This configuration, based on extensive testing, offers the perfect balance of durability and speed.
Reinforced polycarbonate piston with 14 steel teeth ensures optimal AoE and prevents gun lock-up. It’s strong yet lightweight to maintain performance. The piston is paired with a CNC piston head with enlarged ports for efficient air routing into a CNC cylinder head with double O-rings, seated in a stainless steel ribbed cylinder for cooling during full-auto bursts. Air is directed via a CNC nozzle mounted on a reinforced tappet plate. Feeding is guaranteed by a strong tappet spring and a sector gear delayer.
The AK PRIME™ rifle is equipped with the GATE ASTER SE V3 electronic control unit, which ensures safe trigger switching, protects internals, improves trigger response, extends battery life, and boosts RoF. It supports safe use of 7.4V and 11.1V Li-Pol batteries. The battery connector is T-Dean, located under the dust cover. ASTER II V3 features include active braking, binary trigger, adjustable trigger sensitivity, precocking, and programmable firing modes, including DMR mode.
Accuracy is delivered by a 6.02mm precision inner barrel, paired with a Helium Flat-Hop bucking in the redesigned MAGNUS™ TDC hop-up chamber. The package also includes 3 AEG springs of different strengths (M90, M115, M135). Thanks to the ESA2 quick spring change system, swapping springs is quick and easy – just remove the buffer tube and remove the spring guide cover.
We recommend purchasing the GATE Blu-Link Bluetooth module (product code: BLU-L) to control ASTER via the GCS app for Android, iOS, or Windows/Mac. The app provides full functionality and easy firmware updates directly on your phone. Without this module, programming is done via the trigger, with limited features.

Warnings

• Some manufacturers’ springs are overrated (e.g., M130 may equal M140–150), potentially exceeding gearbox durability. Use only Specna Arms springs included. With other brands, M120 strength is recommended to prevent damage.
• When using springs with progressive (irregular) winding, ensure the tighter coil end is seated on the spring guide facing outward from the gearbox.
• Never store the rifle with the battery connected.
• Never store the rifle with pre-cocking enabled. Always release the piston before storage to avoid spring damage.

App Pairing

To pair the GCS app with the ASTER II V3 unit, you must enter the unique code found on the wiring label. Keep this label on the rifle or store it safely. Without the code, pairing with the app is not possible.
