It is based on the real M110A1, an American 7.62×51 mm NATO semi-automatic precision rifle derived from the HK417 platform. The airsoft version retains the character of a modern DMR platform, authentic proportions and, above all, original licensed H&K markings. Unlike an electric DMR, this version uses a GBBR (Gas Blowback Rifle) system. Green Gas is stored directly in the magazine and, when fired, propels both the BB and the heavy bolt. The result is pronounced mechanical bolt movement and noticeable recoil, making operation of the gun feel considerably more like a real rifle than a conventional AEG. After the last BB has been fired, the bolt locks to the rear and, after inserting a loaded magazine, it can be released using the bolt catch. VFC uses the design basis of its proven HK417 / G28 gas system, but the M110 A1 features a number of modified internal components. The manufacturer specifies, for example, steel trigger mechanism components, a reinforced bolt, redesigned gas valve mechanism, updated return spring and an enlarged buffer, which contributes to stronger recoil. The system also includes an NPAS, which allows the amount of gas to be regulated and therefore the gun's power to be adjusted. For adjusting the BB trajectory, the M110 A1 uses the patented VFC Guide Hop system, which allows precise hop-up adjustment. The long precision inner barrel supports the DMR-focused design of the entire platform. The external construction combines metal and durable polymer. The CNC-machined aluminium M-LOK handguard provides plenty of space for mounting a bipod, grip or other accessories, while the upper RIS rail allows the installation of a rifle scope or other optic. The rifle is also equipped with removable folding sights offset by 45°, allowing them to serve as backup sights alongside the primary optic. The M110 A1 is designed for both right- and left-handed users. The fire selector, bolt catch and magazine release are all ambidextrous. The telescopic H&K stock offers 5 adjustment positions, and the muzzle features a standard 14 mm CCW thread for compatible muzzle devices.
