MK18, the History of the Real-World Predecessor

Who doesn't know the legendary assault rifle MK 18? It has appeared in countless movies and TV shows, and most of us have chosen it as our primary weapon in games like Call of Duty and Escape from Tarkov. However, it is primarily a battle-proven tool used by various special forces units around the world, including the Czech 601st Special Forces Group.
The MK18 traces its roots to a modified version of the M4 carbine, which was developed to meet the needs of special forces. The first version of the MK18 was created based on the requirements of the U.S. Navy SEALs for a compact and highly effective rifle for close-quarters combat.
The BLOCK 2 version represents an extended model that is longer than the standard MK18 but still shorter than the M16 rifle. The key feature of the MK18 BLOCK 2 is its 13.5-inch barrel, which still allows for easy maneuverability in confined spaces while also providing accuracy for medium-range shooting.
The airsoft AEG assault rifle MK18 BLOCK 2 (SA-P26) in the top-tier Prime™ series from Specna Arms was developed in collaboration with EMG (Evike Manufacturing Group). Thanks to this collaboration, the rifle boasts excellent body craftsmanship with licensed markings from the renowned firearms manufacturer, Daniel Defence.

Internal Parts

Prime™ is the top-tier line. It represents the best, most refined, upgraded, perfect and reliable that Specna Arms has to offer. In short, Specna decided to take the perfectly fitted body from the Edge/Edge 2.0 line with a scratch-resistant Nano Coating surface and fill it with high-end upgrade parts. It all starts with a serious motor upgrade – a brushless Dark Matter motor spinning at 27000 rpm. This motor boosts efficiency, improves performance, increases rate of fire and enhances trigger response. It also provides up to 5x more shots per battery than conventional motors. (5000+ shots on 11.1V 1000mAh). The motor is housed in a durable aluminum body, capable of handling up to M190 springs!
The gearbox is a fully reinforced, redesigned ÆTHER gearbox, built to withstand springs up to M140. Inside, you’ll find 16:1 CNC steel gears, offering a great balance between high RoF and durability, even with a Specna Arms M135 spring. 8mm J-Cage bearings are used – ball bearings on the motor and sector gears, while the spur gear uses a bushing for increased durability. This combo was tested to offer optimal speed and endurance.
Reinforced polycarbonate piston with 14 steel teeth ensures ideal AoE and prevents premature wear. It’s tough yet light enough not to slow down the shot cycle. The piston head features CNC ports for better airflow, directed into a CNC cylinder head with dual O-rings, sitting inside a stainless steel ribbed cylinder for heat dissipation during full-auto fire. Air is channeled through a CNC nozzle on a reinforced tappet plate. Feeding is stabilized by a strong tappet spring and sector delay chip.
Accuracy is handled by a 6.02 mm tightbore inner barrel, paired with a Helium Flat-Hop bucking and a redesigned MAGNUS™ TDC hop-up chamber. You also get three AEG springs in the box. Go CQB with M90, swap to M115 for standard field play using the ESA2 quick spring change system, or max out with M135 and turn your rifle into a DMR beast.
The MK18 rifle features the HAL ETU electronic trigger unit, providing safe switching, protecting internal parts, boosting trigger response, improving battery life and increasing RoF. It supports safe use of 7.4V and 11.1V Li-Po batteries. HAL stands for Hall effect, used for detecting trigger sensitivity. The battery uses a T-Dean connector with routing to the buffer tube.

External Build

The rifle features top-tier external construction with Nano Coating, offering increased scratch resistance. The matte finish gives it a clean and elegant look. The ergonomic AR15-style body is easy to handle. The CNC aluminum Daniel Defense MK18 BLOCK 2® RIS handguard allows you to attach grips, PEQ boxes, flashlights, etc. The rifle features an adjustable Crane stock compatible with Buffer stick, Nunchuk, or Crane batteries. A new QD pistol grip gives quick access to the motor via a flip-open base.

Warning

• Some third-party springs are significantly overrated (e.g. an M130 spring may perform like M140–150), and their power could exceed the declared durability of the gearbox. We recommend using only the included Specna Arms springs. If using third-party springs, choose a spring rated M120 or lower to avoid damaging the rifle with an overpowered spring.
• If replacing a spring with a progressive (irregular) winding, make sure that the tightly coiled end faces outward on the spring guide—away from the gearbox.
• Never store the gun with the battery connected.
• Never store the gun with the pre-cocking function engaged. Always release the piston forward before storage to avoid damaging the spring.
