RetroArms CNC Split Gearbox V2 QSC

RetroArms CNC gearbox is designed for building and upgrading airsoft AEG guns using a V2 gearbox. Both halves are CNC-machined from a solid block of EN AW 7075 T651 aircraft-grade aluminium, rather than being made from a conventional aluminium casting. The construction has been extensively tested with an M160 spring without signs of wear or damage. The gearbox features a QSC (Quick Spring Change) system for quick spring replacement and includes a universal CNC spring guide. The two halves are secured with stainless steel screws. Bearings are not included and can be selected separately from the RetroArms range. The gearbox uses standard V2 gearbox internal parts. Precise CNC machining ensures proper alignment of both halves, including the coaxial bearing holes. The construction also includes several details designed to simplify assembly and ensure reliable operation. The precisely machined hole for the anti-reversal latch prevents it from falling out, while the trigger hole keeps the trigger in place even when using a stronger spring. Micro-grooves on the pins for the trigger and tappet plate springs help prevent the springs from popping out. This is a Split model, meaning a split gearbox divided into a lower section with the gears and trigger and an upper section with the air compression system and spring. This design simplifies servicing and tuning, allowing you to adjust the optimal nozzle length, AoE and air compression system separately after properly shimming the gears. Installation of the CNC gearbox requires advanced technical knowledge and precise alignment of the entire assembly in the gun body. It is therefore not a universal Plug & Play replacement.

Warnings and Recommendations

• Do not use cylinder heads with a rubber bumper on the front (such as MAXX or FPS). This could permanently damage the cylinder head pins, which is not covered by the warranty. The rubber bumper can be removed from the cylinder head and suitable shimming can be used depending on the specific build.
• The gearbox is designed for JeffTron Leviathan and Scylla processor units. Electronic units from other manufacturers may require minor modifications for proper installation due to different dimensions.
• When tightening the screws, observe the maximum tightening torque of 1.2 Nm. A suitable medium-strength threadlocker can be used to prevent the screws from loosening.
• The bearing holes are intentionally approximately 0.02 mm smaller so that correctly installed bearings do not spin in the gearbox. The lead-in edges are chamfered for easier installation. The hole shape is optimized for RetroArms ANTIROT bearings, but compatible standard round bearings can also be used. These should be properly secured with suitable adhesive, which must not enter the moving part of the bearing.
• Precise alignment of the gearbox in the gun body is essential for correct installation to maintain the correct axis between the gearbox, nozzle and hop-up chamber. Installation requires knowledge of gear shimming, motor gear engagement adjustment, AOE adjustment, nozzle and tappet plate operation checks, correct cylinder head seating, securing the QSC spring guide, and proper installation of the electronics and wiring. The assembly must then be tuned directly in the gun body, including BB feeding, nozzle length, hop-up bucking and chamber. This is not a Plug & Play component and installation should be entrusted to an experienced airsoft technician.
• With some gun manufacturers, it may be necessary to use the original spring guide or modify a compatible spring guide for proper installation.
